Architectural accessibility

University of Applied Sciences in Tarnów (Akademia Tarnowska) — ul. Mickiewicza 8, 33-100

The University campus with an area of ​​almost 3.5 hectares consists of seven buildings marked with letters A to G.

Building A – main building, 4-storey, with a usable area of 6284 m2, in the building there are classrooms and administrative rooms.

Only the corridor and rooms on the ground floor are accessible to wheelchair users. Part of the corridor is accessed by stairs, which can be climbed using a platform staircase. There is no elevator in the building.

  • There are 6 entrances with stairs to the building. The main entrance is located from Mickiewicza Street, the doors open automatically, the entrance has a ramp for disabled people. The remaining 5 entrances are from the courtyard, 3 entrances have ramps for disabled people, in three entrances the doors open automatically.
  • The reception is located on the right side of the main entrance. The reception has an induction loop.
  • The entire building is accessible to wheelchair users. There are two lifts in the building that accommodate wheelchairs.
  • Toilets for people with disabilities are located on the first (2 toilets) and second floor (1 toilet) next to the elevator.
  • There are 2 parking spaces designated for people with disabilities in front of the building.
  • The building and all of its rooms are accessible with assistance dogs and guide dogs.
  • There is an induction loop available in the building, in room 110 on the first floor. In addition, portable induction loops can be rented from the Office for Persons with Disabilities.
  • The Office for Persons with Disabilities operates a Scientific and Teaching Incubator, where students can borrow necessary equipment (e.g. laptops, induction loops, tablets, smartphones, dictaphones, wireless headphones, Bluetooth headphones, memory sticks).
  • There is WIFI access throughout the building.
  • On the ground floor there is a room for people with disabilities equipped with a computer.
  • Flat pavements, wide corridors, even anti-slip floors, no thresholds at the entrance to the rooms and ubiquitous markings facilitate movement and easy recognition in the field,
  • n each classroom at the university there is a laptop, multimedia projector and microphone, which makes it easier for students to visually and auditorily receive the classes,
  • In the conference room, a booth for simultaneous translation for people with disabilities has been prepared. This booth is used by students of philological faculties,
  • In 4 buildings that have more than 1 floor there is a crawler stair climber that can be used to transport a person requiring help, e.g. in the event of a fire, fainting, panic attack, etc.

Building B – 2-storey educational and library pavilion with a usable area of 3089 m2, the building houses chemical laboratories, classrooms and a library.

  • There are 3 entrances to the building. The main entrance is from the campus, no steps, the doors open automatically. The other 2 entrances with steps are from the parking lot.
  • The reception is located on the left side of the main entrance. The reception has an induction loop.
  • The entire building is accessible to wheelchair users. There is a lift in the building that can accommodate a wheelchair for disabled people.
  • Toilets for people with disabilities are located on the ground floor and first floor.
  • The building and all of its rooms are accessible with assistance dogs and guide dogs.

Building CD – The Center of Modern Technologies consists of the Teaching Pavilion (C), 4-storey with a usable area of 4316 m2 and a Laboratory and Technology Pavilion (D), 2-storey with a usable area of 1785 m2, in the building there are classrooms, computer and electronic laboratories and rooms administrative.

  • There are 3 entrances to the building, including 2 with stairs. The main entrance from the campus, the doors open automatically, the entrance has a ramp for disabled people. The same ramp for disabled people leads to the second entrance.
  • The reception is located on the right side of the main entrance. The reception has an induction loop.
  • The entire building is accessible to wheelchair users. The CD building has two lifts that can accommodate a wheelchair.
  • The toilet for people with disabilities is located on the ground floor of building C, next to the elevator.
  • There are 2 parking spaces designated for people with disabilities in front of the building.
  • The building and all of its rooms are accessible with assistance dogs and guide dogs.
  • An induction loop has been permanently installed in room C06 of the building.

Building EF – Sports hall (E) with a total usable area of 2 453.47 m2, a sports and recreation complex (E) with a total usable area of 2 457.06 m2, a swimming pool (F) with a total usable area of 1 846.95 m2, underground car park located under the sports hall with 90 parking spaces with a total area of 2,723.27 m2.

  • There are 2 entrances to the building. The main entrance from the campus, the doors open automatically, the second entrance from the parking lot has a ramp for disabled people.
  • The reception is located on the left side of the main entrance. The reception has an induction loop.
  • The entire building is accessible to wheelchair users. There is a lift in the building that can accommodate a wheelchair, and the lift also goes down to the underground car park.
  • Toilets for people with disabilities are located on the ground floor of building E (2 units) and on the first floor (1 unit).
  • There are 2 parking spaces designated for people with disabilities in front of the building.
  • The building and all of its rooms are accessible with assistance dogs and guide dogs.
  • There is WIFI access throughout the building.

Building G – storey didactic building + basement with a total usable area of 3 764.64 m2. In the building there are physiotherapy laboratories, nursing laboratories, classrooms, lecture rooms.

  • There are 2 entrances to the building. The main entrance from the campus, the doors open automatically, the second entrance from the parking lot has a ramp for disabled people.
  • The reception is located on the left side of the main entrance. The reception has an induction loop.
  • The entire building is accessible to wheelchair users. There is a lift in the building that can accommodate a wheelchair, and the lift also goes down to the basement.
  • Toilets for people with disabilities are located on the ground floor and on three floors of the building.
  • There are 2 parking spaces designated for people with disabilities in front of the building.
  • The building and all of its rooms are accessible with assistance dogs and guide dogs.
  • There is WIFI access throughout the building.

Student House 

  • In front of the Student Dormitory building there is a ramp making it easier for disabled people to get into the dormitory building.
  • The reception and cloakroom are located close to the entrance door.
  • For your convenience, the Student Residence has a lift that can accommodate a wheelchair for a disabled person.
  • The rooms used by people with disabilities are located on the ground floor.
  • The building and all of its rooms are accessible with assistance dogs and guide dogs.
  • There are no induction loops in the building.
  • WIFI is available throughout the building.
  • People with disabilities may apply to the Student Residence Manager for accommodation in a selected room. In justified cases, the guardian of that person may apply for accommodation with a disabled or chronically ill person.
